The project concerns the architectural and interior design of a triple residence building located in Chalandri, a suburban district of Athens characterized by low-rise housing and a strong relationship between private space and landscape. The design seeks to balance urban presence with domestic intimacy, articulating a contemporary residential typology that responds to scale, privacy, and daily living.

The building is organized as three independent residences, vertically composed yet clearly articulated. The ground-floor residence opens directly onto a private garden, where outdoor living becomes an extension of the interior. A small pool is embedded within the landscape, creating a secluded micro-environment that enhances the sense of retreat from the surrounding urban fabric.

The upper two residences are conceived as similar maisonettes, occupying the first and second floors. Their spatial organization follows a clear and legible sequence: the first level accommodates the living room, kitchen, and everyday communal spaces, conceived as open and fluid areas that favor natural light and visual continuity. Large openings and carefully positioned outdoor thresholds reinforce the dialogue between interior and exterior, while maintaining controlled privacy.

The upper levels host the more private functions of the dwellings. Master bedrooms and children’s bedrooms are arranged to ensure calmness, intimacy, and optimal orientation, emphasizing comfort and retreat. The vertical separation of uses allows daily life to unfold naturally, distinguishing between collective and private moments within each residence.

The architectural expression of the building is defined by a layered façade system -a modern interpretation of sun blinds “klostra”- , where vertical steel elements and textured surfaces create depth, rhythm, and filtered views. The interplay of solid and void, light and shadow, reinforces the building’s identity while responding to the Mediterranean climate. Material choices are restrained and tactile, emphasizing durability, warmth, and timelessness.

Overall, the project explores a contemporary approach to suburban living—one that integrates architecture, interior design, and landscape into a coherent residential experience, where everyday life is shaped by light, proportion, and material presence.
